Running out of time
As I wrote previously back in September, I'm taking part in this year's Leeds Abbey Dash. Since deciding to take part, my training has not gone very well to say the least. I've been ill twice, been away from Leeds a fair bit, been distracted by film festivals and generally not kept up the pace.
I've got until the 28th of this month to get myself in a fit state to run. I started to get things back on track today by cycling to work - something that, somehow, I have managed not to do for nearly a month. Having cycled today it is a relief that I don't feel as though I have lost any fitness, but I am still going to have put lots of time aside for running between now and the race.
Not that difficult a task on paper, but life is never that simple. I have an absolutely mandatory night of drinking in Leeds this Friday (the fabulous Milk comes around once again, where I'm DJing next month!) and then it's down to Swansea for a housewarming party the next day. Although there's a fab weekend coming up, as far as training goes it's a write-off - the punch at the housewarming alone will probably take a few days to recover from, going from past experience!
At least I am still on target with the overall goal. I've lost two-and-a-half stone in the last six months without resulting to a mentalist diet or too much time spent working out. I just need to keep things up. Wish me luck.
