Ho hum

Posted on Saturday 30 August 2003. No comments.

This week hasn't really been that good, if truth be told. No one thing has made it that way, it's just the way the tide is at the moment. It wasn't all bad either. Meh. Here are a few appropriate-to-be-published-publicly downers from this week (in no particular order).

Work snowshaker
Work feels really strange at the moment as we're in a kind of transition period. My manager has now left, one of my team left yesterday and another member has tendered her resignation. Never before has there been so many coming and goings all in one go, and sometimes it feels like one-way traffic as well.

To top it off I might be being seconded to elsewhere in the company for upto six months, which will be good - but again I don't really know anything about it yet. I'm sure it'll all settle down and be normal again soon, but it's never nice when anyone leaves and so it's all a bit strange at the moment.

Left leg lament
My health is usually spot on. Since I stopped working shifts last December my health has improved a lot and I've only taken a few days off work through illness all year. However, over the past weeks my leg has started to go all itchy and sore, and it now appears that I have developed eczema.

I have been treating it, but yesterday it got so uncomfortable that I left work to go home and sort it out before going back into work. It's fortunate that I'm quite tolerant to it and haven't been making it worse, but it's pissing me off. When it's uncomfortable as it was yesterday, I found it difficult to concentrate properly on what I was doing.

Watch replacement trauma
You might think this a bit of a daft inclusion, but then I'm sure you've come to expect this by now. What's daft to everyone isn't always daft to me. Are you sitting comfortably? My watch started going twenty minutes fast or half an hour slow, at seemingly intervals. It be fine for a week or two, and all of a sudden it's twenty minutes out. It made me miss a train, and generally confused the hell out of me. A replacement battery didn't do the trick, so shopping for a new watch was required. I've been shopping for about three weeks now and still I don't have a watch. I cannot find a watch that I want. Yes, I'm fussy, but it's a watch. I spent three hours walking around Leeds today finding a suitable one to no avail. Grrr.
